Merely reading this article convinced me that Jimmy Boyd is the best candidate. The paper notes he was ahead of the situation on the ball park by calling for a board to oversee the situation....which is now what exists. I am not a supporter of the NAACP but accept there is some good that can come from that organization's participation in local politics particularly if done so by good solid citizens such as Mr. Boyd. Mr. Boyd has been where the rubber meets the road in his service as a Police Officer thus I see his background more suited to serving his community. Come election day....he gets my vote!

If anyone has ever met Evelyn Terry in person I doubt they would vote for her. I find it hard to believe she put two coherent sentences together.

I do not know Terry; however, I do have problems with spouses who try to take over a political position after their spouse retires/resigns/etc. Many are not qualified. Also, she indicated she had helped organize 8 neighborhood associations. I am especially leary of some community organizers.

Knowing Boyd personally I can honestly say he is a man of integrity who has served the Winston-Salem community well in a number of capacities....but those qualities would not be acknowledged by certain shallow-minded, racist people. No one noted the fact that he is a RETIRED police officer!!!! When will it ALL end?!?!?

Well, I will say one thing for Jimmy, even though his years at the PD proved he was far from the "sharpest knife in the drawer", he at least does not hold the record for cops under his supervision being fired, jailed or killed as his predecessor, Steve Hairston does.

I voted for Obama. Smartest President in my lifetime. It's not about color at all. Can't speak for everyone however.

Definition of Conundrum = two democrats running in the southeast ward. Picking an actual candidate might cause mass confusion.

I am a die-hard conservative, probably some would call me a right wing nut job. Anyone reading the few comments I have put up from time to time might see that. But I know Jimmy Boyd personally and have known him for years. I am quite sure I would disagree with him on most political issues. But let me tell you people this: There is not one racist bone in his body. Not one. So you all can shut that crap up.

Trying to do good things for people of color doesn't automatically mean you don't like white people. And how the WSJ decides to refer to the man doesn't make him a racist either. I would take the word of someone who actually knows him (as RDLeader says he does) before I would that of someone who has never met the man.
